Layali Arabesque (Arabesque Nights) offers a real Arabic nightclub experience at Myth. Dance to live traditional acoustic music by the Arabesque Orchestra led by Professor Bassam Bishara (Vocals, Oude), Suleiman Warwar (Lead Dumbek), George Barbas (Dhoholla), Sebastian Gatto (Katim), Walid Najjar (Keyboards) and Eddy Suleiman (Violin)!

Watch the featured dancer perform two 30-minute shows, one in Cabaret style and the other in Egyptian folklore style (Assaya, Shamadan, Khaleegy, Sword, Milaya, Saiidi, etc.).

Both the live music and the dancing are improvised.

Suhaila Salimpour returns to Toronto for her annual workshops and gala show.

Twenty hours of class over 4 glorious days with optional level 1 testing after we're all done.

This intensive is open to all levels of dancers and no previous experience with Suhaila's format is required. All participants are encouraged to work at their own level and pace.

As with all workshops taught by Suhaila the objective is for each dancer to understand the format both mentally and physically. This is achieved through verbal break down and demonstration of the technique, drilling, and choreography integrating the format into dance, as well as a chance to ask questions and discuss the format.

Suhaila's format contains NO STYLIZATION, but instead is entirely technical. What that means is that these classes are valuable for all styles of belly dancers from cabaret, to classical Egyptian to tribal to tribal fusion. Regardless of your level, from absolute beginner to professional dancer, your dancing will be taken to another level each time you study with Suhaila.

Optional level 1 testing (additional cost) Sunday from 4:45 to roughly 6:15 pm
Content: Jamila format, Suhaila format and an original Suhaila choreography. Please bring finger cymbals.

Cost: $560 CDN + 6% gst = $593.60 CDN

Optional package:
Friday through Sunday only (no Thursday class)
Cost: $470 CDN + 6% gst = $498.20

As this is an intensive, there is no single day registration.

Full registration includes 20 hours of class with Suhaila Salimpour (optional package 15 hours of class), 4 gourmet catered lunches (optional package 3 lunches), water, juice and snacks during the workshops. Level 1 testing at an additional cost payable to Suhaila Salimpour School of Dance before testing on Sunday.

Please note: If paying using the deposit with a balance outstanding, balance is due by Oct 30 at the latest. Optional Level 1 testing will be available after Sunday's workshop for those interested. For more info about testing, please click here
